Counterpoint Series, 2022 - 2023
This series, like New Circle, features a circular woodblock that separated into pieces, due to the pressure of being run through the press. I responded by arranging them in various ways to suggest movement and nature.
In the 6-panel piece below, the lower section refers to the idea of three red-shouldered hawks, referencing some of their color markings. In the top three panels, I superimposed a blend roll of blue to white (monoprint from acrylic) which I manipulated with kitchen tools for a loose, calligraphic feel.
